Recently a group of high school students interviewed Canadian Actress Theresa Longo regarding the path to becoming an actress!
If you have ever wondered what a day in the life of an actress is like, look no further! Take some of these steps toward film star success:Theresa Longo explains How to Become an Actress/Actor in this interview:
1. How did you get into acting?
(Theresa): Seven years ago a friend of mine submitted us for a TV show called “Instant Beauty Pageant” which aired on E! Entertainment Network. We went for the audition about an hour away from home and landed the role together. I have been attending auditions with success ever since!

4. What are some challenges that you encounter in your job?
The biggest challenge is keeping a steady stream of income! Often as an actress I have to juggle several jobs and diversify. I am an investor, content creator, a fitness trainer, a writer, a blogger, brand ambassador, social media manager and more. I have to have several jobs in order to support having an office in Toronto as well as travel. Often I live minimally and avoid too many expenses. When I work independently on events and jobs, it can take up to 60 or even 90 days to get paid. Sometimes I never know when my cheque will arrive. At times I have waited months and even years for repayment for work already finished. They say the only thing harder than becoming an actress is getting paid to be an actress 😉 !
5.What advice would you give a high school student interested in getting into your line of work?
Take care of your image. Be careful what you post online. Take great care to present yourself as a classy, polished, professional individual. I am very meticulous about my image online. Google yourself to see what your search results are. Make sure to save your photos with an appropriate title so that Google and other search engines will find you faster. For example: Saving a photo of myself with the name “Actress-Theresa-Longo.JPG” will yield far better search results in search engines than leaving photos to have an assigned name ie “DSL9854-34.JPG”. Additionally, I only post positive social media updates. I never complain and I am always happy. Even if something goes differently than I expected, I always try to find the positives and look on the bright side. I always look around and think of all the things I am so lucky to have. I feel gratitude on a regular basis daily. I try to make a list of 100 things I am grateful for often. Keep a perfected, easy to read actor / actress resume. Always have updated head shots (within the last 6 months). Be willing to invest a bit of money in your career, photos, and marketing yourself as a business entity.
