It is with a heavy heart to report the first death from COVID-19 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada is dear friend and professional photographer Dr. George Dimitroff. Peterborough This Week first reported Dr. George Dimitroff, a retired psychologist and well-known photographer, had passed due to COVID19 complications.
Rest in Peace George.
George photographed vast subjects, animals, nature, babies and more.
Please share your own favorite George Dimitroff photos in his honor!
I took this photo of George Dimitroff during TIFF while we worked on “Portraits of Health” a photography project George created where I was honored to be chosen as his model. We shared many years of wonderful moments creating special photos and I will deeply miss him. George’s legacy spans well beyond photography; beautiful family, a gifted professional photographer, mentor, retired psychologist and friend to many. I will miss our adventures to get the perfect photo.
Thank you George, for your kindness, your creativity and talent.
George was humble about his photography but he was a natural and often captured award winning photos. Friend Linda Cardona told the local newspaper “He was an outstanding photographer who specialized in portraits and travel photography. He was serious about his photography and liked to research camera equipment, software and interesting techniques. He was always wanting to share what he had learned with his photography friends. George will be missed by all that knew him.”, so true Linda, so very true.
The “Portrait of Health” Collection by George Dimitroff
George and I captured everything from actress portfolio headshots, sports, Game of Thrones cosplay, Gwen Stefani Cosplay, high fashion, pregnancy fashion photoshoot, car reviews for high end brands and often worked to promote fine local retailers in our hometown Peterborough, Ontario. We had opportunities to work with high end Italian fashion outlets, luxury vehicles and even shut down an airport strip for our photoshoot.
Sometimes we hiked to get the perfect photo.
Those who knew him appreciate George and the extraordinary legacy he leaves.
He will be so missed.
Here are more of my favorite photos working with George Dimitroff.
Thank you George.
