After losing her passport in the US, Theresa Longo scrambled to book a domestic flight then bussed over the border just in time to compete in the Miss Italia nel Mondo competition. She arrived at the competition with Strutt Central CEO Christina and Brit….. worried to hear most of the other girls already knew Italian!!! This made her a little nervous!!! (At that time she had never so much as heard a word of the Italian language).
Set in Hamilton Ontario, the Miss Italia Nel Mondo pageant is open to women 21-28 of Italian decent. Theresa’s great grandparents originated in Palermo Sicily & she thought this would be a wonderful way to get in touch with her Italian heritage. The Miss Italia Nel Mondo qualifying pageant was beautifully decorated! There were so many well-dressed people.

The First Round Miss Italia Nel Mondo Competition:
Some of the things contestants had to do:
- Sing the Italian and Canadian National Anthem!!!
- Read an entire paragraph in Italian to a panel of over 10 judges! … in bikinis!
There were 3 rounds of the competition:
Casual Wear, Bikini Round, and Evening wear
Casual Wear: Included gorgeous clothes by Roberto Cavalli. Contestants were required to strut their stuff on the runway for the judges.
Bikini Round – Where contestants had to READ Italian.
When they called out the representative for North American Crown, the announcer ONLY spoke Italian, so Theresa didn’t even really KNOW she was going to Italy until she got backstage afterward! Ha… ! What a shock!!!
She adds: “I am extremely excited to go to Italy to represent North America. I am now studying to become fluent in Italian!!! Everyone is going to have to wish me luck with this!!!!” Update in 2018 Theresa Longo is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
Reports are that Theresa is thrilled to visit Calabria…

Miss Italia Canada is Miss. Daniella Delgado. Both Theresa Longo and Daniella are chosen to represent in Italy at miss Italia of the World. They’ll work the hardest ever to represent North America well in Italy.
The winner of Miss Italia Nel Mondo wins…
a new car, a modeling contract, sponsorship deals, as well as round trip, expenses paid trip to Italy!

My goal is to leave a positive footprint in this world; to motivate and support women of all shapes and sizes; and to carry with me a message of love and sustainability. I am blessed with a voice and a willingness to help those who have helped me along the way. I am so happy to have this inspiring opportunity. While in Italy, I will stay in Sicily for a few days upon arrival before the pageant work begins. We will prepare for 3 weeks leading up to the live pageant, televised worldwide on RAI Uno exclusive!”
