Personally, for me, Guarina: Guarina: The Hound Lost in the Forest’s Cacimba, A Story of Unconditional Canine Loyalty is a book which reminded me so greatly of my favorite dog named Bolero. His distinct broo-ing bark would fill the barrio as soon as he could hear the fruit truck mega-phone approaching down the dusty road or at any visitor’s moto coming up the lane. In his final years my mother in law and I strengthened him with pounds of fresh raw ground steak and cooked rice. He was so loved, as are many of our favorite dogs!
