Theresa Longo Tells us Why Life is Pura Vida in Costa Rica!

By May 4, 2013July 30th, 2016Travel, Trips

Costa Rica is the ultimate getaway!! I have a blast surfing every morning, catching rays, catching z’s, testing out every hammock I can find, & more 😉

I sit here eating breakfast in an open cabana –  after a morning of surf, eating banana pineapple pancakes, thinking I could really get used to this… Later this afternoon I am making a trip North of Santa Teresa to explore.

If you are thinking of visiting Costa Rica, the first place you should consider for your stay is the Nicoya Peninsula.

The Nicoya Peninsula is separated from the mainland of Costa Rica by the Gulf of Nicoya and the Tempisque estuary.

Nicoya Peninsula Costa Rica
Peninsula de Nicoya, Pacific coast of Costa Rica

From its northern base in the arid Guanacaste lowlands the peninsula extends 140 km to the south where the landscape progressively becomes more moist and hilly.

The most noted feature of the Peninsula de Nicoya are the beaches. Within the vast expanse of coastline are innumerable magnificent beaches with dramatic coastal scenery, and small villages each with its own distinct charm.

When I first started coming to Costa Rica I stayed at Hotel Buenisimo and my visit was pure bliss the entire time. I stayed in the garden room, which was fantastic! Located in the BEAUTIFUL, scenic Nicoya Peninsula, Hotel Buenisimo boasts hot water, AC, Free Wi-Fi, and breakfast included… all for an incredible price!! Located steps from miles of coastline, Hotel Buenisimo is accommodating, friendly, and extremely safe. Charlie and Denise are exceptional hosts, making sure to check in on me frequently. Denise was kind enough to quickly respond to my last minute vacation request. She even provided helpful pointers on how to get there easily. She made my travel plans worry free & hassle free! One night during my stay, Charlie and Denise even invited me to a pizza party in the main lobby, once again proving themselves to be gracious, thoughtful hosts. Everything I could possibly want or need was available to me at Hotel Buenisimo, including taxi service, surf lessons, tour guides and more. The breakfast each morning was incredible. Claudia makes the most delicious banana or banana pineapple pancakes!

Claudia would switch  up the breakfast every morning and I can tell you one of my favorite times of the day was sitting down to her big breakfasts. When my vacation was over, I was actually quite bummed that I would not be waking up to Claudia’s incredible breakfasts anymore. I spent my time, sun bathing, surfing, beach running & having a blast the entire time.

Now I am lucky to call Costa Rica my second home!

Things to put on your TO-DO list when you arrive to Costa Rica:

  •    Surfing
  • Paddle Surf
  • Mountain Climbing
  • Zip Lining
  • Playa Tours
  • Tide Pools
  • Lava Formations
  • FOOD!
  • Guaro
  • Trees

  • Snorkeling
I love the Nicoya Peninsula. Traveling the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula, I stay in Santa Teresa and now call Playa Carmen my home away from home. Regular visits to Cabuya, Playa Hermosa, Montezuma, & Mal Pais. Surfing is awesome, & very advanced in most areas.
